HYPE! HYPE! HYPE! … Zurecht. Mal was Neues. Quasi der Gary-Numan-Pop des neuen Jahrtausends.

Platz 9: Rufus Wainwright mit “Rules & Regulations”. “These are just the rules and regulations of the birds, and the bees, the earth, and the trees, not to mention the gods, not to mention the gods.”
myzeitgeist aus Dänemark meint: “Beautiful song, wonderful hairdo, and long-johns have never looked sexier!”

Platz 8: Reamonn mit “Promise”. “Sometimes we’re holding on by strings.”
Ich weiß noch, wie S., M., C. und ich im Mai 2006 beim Spiel der deutschen Nationalmannschaft gegen den FSV Luckenwalde im Carl-Benz-Stadion in Mannheim dabei waren. Reamonn spielten in der Halbzeit am anderen Ende des Spielfelds genau dieses Lied. Leider gab’s bisher kein besseres von Reamonn.

Platz 7: The All-American Rejects mit “Gives You Hell”. “Now where’s your picket fence, love? And where’s your shiny car?”
Irgendwie ein bisschen wie die neuen Blink 182, oder?

Platz 6: Alela Diane mit “The Pirate’s Gospel”. “While some folks pray their path to Jesus, we’re gonna sing the Pirate’s Gospel, we’re gonna sew these feet for dancin’, we’re gonna keep our eyes wide open.”
Gerade wieder gemerkt: was für andere normal ist, mag für mich nicht normal sein. Und vice versa.

Platz 5: Scouting For Girls mit “Heartbeat”. “Always up for a laugh, she’s a pain in the arse.”
Vergangene Woche hat mein guter Freund P. aus H. mich mit genau dieser Textzeile beschrieben. Ich würde ja gerne beleidigt sein und die Anschuldigung als unwahr zurückweisen, aber irgendwie hat er wohl doch recht. Wenigstens ein kleines bisschen.

Platz 4: Andrew Bird mit “Anonanimal”. “I will become this animal perfectly adapted to the music halls.”
Andrew Bird is my new OBSESSION! Das erste Mal gehört habe ich ihn auf der Dark Was The Night-CD, auf der er “The Giant Of Illinois” von The Handsome Family covert. Seitdem bin ich Hardcore-Fan. Platz 3: Bakkushan mit “Springwut”. “Mein Blut schlägt Blasen, mein Herz am Rasen.”
Das Video zu “Springwut” hab ich bestimmt schon über 20 Mal gesehen, aber mir ist erst vor kurzem aufgefallen, wie schön Rob seine Haare schütteln kann.

Platz 2: Pet Shop Boys mit “King Of Rome”. “And if I were the King of Rome I couldn’t be more tragic; my fate to roam so far from home in search of my lost magic.”
Ich sage YES zu den Pet Shop Boys! Und zu ihrem neuen, zehnten Studioalbum! Mit Smith-Gitarrist Johnny Marr, Streicherarrangements von Owen Pallett (The Arcade Fire, The Shadow Puppets) und einem Track-by-Track-Audiokommentar von Neil Tennant und Chris Lowe. Fantastisch!

Platz 1: Selig mit “Schau Schau”. “Und ich schau, schau, schau…”
Wie toll, dass dieses Jahr nicht nur Michael Jackson und Faith No More, sondern auch Selig endlich wieder mit am Start sind. Denn statt an meiner Hausarbeit zu tüfteln, habe ich das ganze Wochenende fast ausschließlich nur das neue Album von Selig rauf und runter gehört. Selig vom Feinsten!
